What is Fensa and how will it Benefit My Purchase?

All new windows and replacements are subject to Local Authority, Building Control, Building Regulation Part L This states that windows should not have a U value greater than 2 for u-PVC and timber windows and 2.2 for aluminium. The majority of double glazing companies join FENSA (Fenestration Self Assessment Scheme) which means that these companies can assess their U values for themselves.

At, Vantage, we use The Local Authority Rather Than FENSA.

Vantage made the conscious decision NOT to join FENSA. In our opinion, we felt that self regulation could be abused and we wanted our clients to feel protected by their Local Authority. The Directors of Vantage also felt that, because we build a substantial amount of conservatories, it would be in our interest, due to the planning permissions that may be required, to go down the route of Local Authority Regulation.

Reputable companies that decide not to join FENSA will be inspected by the appropriate Local Authority concerned. Upon completion of each window and door project, a certificate will be issued by the Local Authority to confirm that the installation has been fitted in accordance with Building Regulation Part L. This is an important document and should be kept safe in the event that you decide to sell your property.
